RackeryTaking Measurements for Men’s Sizes

Welcome to Rackery! This guide provides instructions on how to measure yourself for shirts that come in men’s sizes. Before you begin, you will need a cloth tape measure. You will also need to wear well-fitting clothes. When taking the measurements, stand up straight with your weight evenly distributed—no slouching! Make sure the tape measure stays as parallel to the ground as possible. The tape should wrap around the area you are measuring comfortably, but not too loosely. The following four measurements are simple to take, but crucial to finding the best fitting clothes.

Measuring Your Neck

Measure around your neck at the height of where your collar, if buttoned, would be. Take this measurement around the lower section of your neck, below your Adam’s Apple.

Measuring Your Chest

Measure around the fullest part of your chest. For this, the tape measure should wrap around under the armpits.

Measuring Sleeve Length

Extend your arm straight out, and hold it at a 45 degree angle from your body. With your palm facing out, measure from the middle of the back of your neck to your wrist bone.

Measuring Your Waist

Measure the circumference of your waist at about navel level: above your hip bone, but below your ribs. Don’t suck in your stomach, or your measurement will be inaccurate.

All done!
